Business Technology -
Open Source Best Practice

Every business leader today is looking for speed and agility when developing new products, processes and services. By leading with data, gaining customer loyalty and balancing development and operational costs, companies can achieve a competitive edge and remain strong through disruptive times.

Organisations are going through a significant cultural transformation as they need to become more agile in order to fully utilise the innovation potential created by digitalisation. The task is not easy as utilising existing systems, processes and ways of working are still valid and need to co-exist together with new digital solutions.

The Business Technology Standard (or BT Standard) is an open-source management framework to plan, build and run information technology in today’s technology-driven business world. It has been constantly developed and renewed during the past 10 years with global companies and public organisations. It is recognised today as one of the leading best practices and used in hundreds of globally operating companies and public organisations, especially in Nordic countries.

This fourth edition, which Xonetic contributed to, has been completely rewritten and upgraded, and the scope of technology management has been extended from information technology to business technology.

Xonetic are the sole UK&I implementation partner for Business Technology

Our role within the Business Technology Community is to promote and support institutions, organisations and companies wishing to begin their BT implementation journey. We cover the UK and Republic of Ireland.

We do this by providing:

  • A link to the Nordic community Webinars and educational workshops to promote understanding
  • Training and support materials
  • Consultancy and thought leadership, bringing best practice from across the community.

It is important to note that implementation of Business Technology is not a consulting led process and that organisations should plan to use support from Xonetic and the BT community at key points during the journey – we will help you understand what mix is right for your organisation.

Business Technology best practice is built from the community

Right from the start in 2009 the approach was to incorporate content and ideas that were proven and in use.

Over time this community driven approach has meant best practice that is hardened and tested by some of the largest companies in the Nordics.

Xonetic’s involvement started in 2017. By introducing experiences from the UK market we helped broaden the scope of the 4th release.

Since then our mission has been to strengthen and mature the community. Come and join us!
